Negative electrode material determines the energy density of ASLB strongly. Si and Li are two elements which are the most attractive negative electrode materials due to both of them have theoretically high capacities. However, now most relevant researches are on Li rather than Si.
The scholars from Northeastern University of the U.S. studied the silicon negative electrodes’ stability, ability to be shaped and cost in ASLB and compare these to Li in the same situation. The whole battery’s capacity could reach 145 mAh g-1 under C/3 and keeps the stability over 1,000 circles. This task contributes to the solution plan of mass commercialization and safe & economical storage production line.
