Application of silicone in the construction industry - silicone adhesive

Classification of silicone sealants according to the number of components

 

According to the number of components of the product, silicone sealants for construction can generally be divided into two categories: single-component and two-component.

 

Single-component silicone sealants for construction are generally cured by reacting with moisture in the air. The curing process gradually proceeds from the surface to the deep layer. Therefore, its deep curing speed is relatively slow, and it has certain requirements for construction depth, width, ambient temperature, ambient humidity, etc., and is greatly affected by ambient humidity. Under normal circumstances, it takes 5-7 days to have a certain strength. If the best effect is to be achieved, it takes 7-21 days. Single-component is generally suitable for construction sites because of its ease of use.

 

Two-component silicone sealants for construction have two components, A and B. When used, the two components need to be mixed evenly first, and then the glue is injected into the glue-using part within a certain period of time. If the mixture exceeds a certain time, the sealant will solidify and cannot be used. Two-component generally takes 2-s days to reach strength. Two-component glue is generally suitable for insulating glass sealing in door and window factories because of its fast curing speed and deep curing.

 

 

Application of silicone adhesive in the construction industry

 

1. Building sealing

Silicone adhesive is widely used for sealing windows, door frames, curtain walls and other parts of buildings. It can effectively prevent the penetration of moisture and air, and reduce structural damage caused by moisture intrusion.
