At the end of February, the proportion of container ships that were shut down was three times that before the COVID-19 epidemic, and the transport volume of air cargo in 2023 is expected to decrease by 4% compared with the previous year. Due to economic changes, inventories in the US retail industry have surged, and imports and exports of household appliances are decreasing. According to survey data, the proportion of ships canceling navigation and waiting at ports reached 6.4% at the end of February. It increased to three times the same period last year, further worsening compared to about 5% in January. The decrease in cargo transportation is even more significant on routes connecting Asia and North America. The data shows that the global air cargo transport volume in January decreased by 15%, 11% lower than that in the same month of 2019 before the COVID-19 epidemic.
