Tata Group is about to take over the factory of Taiwan Wistron Group in southern India and become the first local iPhone manufacturer in India. Tata Group has been negotiating with Wistron Group for several months and hopes to complete the acquisition before the end of March. At the heart of the negotiations was Tata's acquisition of a majority stake in a joint venture. Tata will supervise the main manufacturing business with the support of Wetron. This acquisition may make Weichuang's only iPhone manufacturing business in India worth more than $600 million.
