Bavarian company RW Silicium is the last remaining silicon producer in Germany. RW Silicon makes raw materials for microchips and solar systems in Bavaria. In an interview with Handelsblatt, Heinz Schimmelbusch, head of materials company AMG, which owns the plant, said it risked falling victim to Germany's chaotic energy policy. The reason is that rising industrial electricity prices and semi-metal prices have also continued to rise, making energy-intensive production no longer profitable. RW Silicium has significantly reduced production and currently has only one internal combustion engine in operation.
