Organic silicone resin is one type of compound which belongs to half inorganic and half organic structure macromolecular compound. It consists of both of inorganic and organic materials’ properties. Its dielectric properties could maintain status quo in bigger ranges of temperature, humidity and frequencies. It also has excellent thermal oxidation stability, chemical resistance, cold resistance, radiation resistance, weather resistance, electrical isolation and demoulding properties. It is according to these, silicone resin has been widely applied as cold resistance and heat resistance isolation coating which could be used to immerse H-grade electrical engine wire and glass cloth and to make some electrical engine isolation tubes; It could also be used to stick mica powders or pieces, this could be used to produce high-voltage electrical device mica board, mica tube and mica materials; as the base material to some special coating, it could be used to manufacture heat-resistance coating material, weather resistance material, demoulding material and waterproof coating material; as the base material and main material to produce anti-humidity adhesive and pressure sensitive adhesive; as the base polymer to produce heat and cold resistance and electrical isolation mold plastics, the shell package sealing material for electronic parts and applied in textile, construction and healthcare.

Electrical engine or device’s volume, weight and product life is highly dependent on the properties of the used electrical isolation materials. Generally, the better heat resistance and electrical isolation the insulting materials have, the volume could be smaller, the weight could be lighter (to save raw materials) and the product life could be longer under the same circumstance. It usually consists of three parts- paint base, solvent and assisted materials. In high-temperature engine, dry transformer and some other electrical devices, different types of electrical insulating materials like insulating paints, coating cloth, coating tapes, coating tubes, coating wires and layer pressure boards are also required.

The electrical materials that consist of organic resins and organic materials could be used for a long period. If we consider polysiloxane modified organic resins, they we could get F grade insulating materials.

Organic silicone insulating material takes an extremely important role in the manufacturing of electrical devices and engines. The earliest electrical devices and engines are limited to the level of technologies; most insulating materials are made of clothes, paper or dry oils. The manufactured devices are big, chunk. Their volumes are small and efficiencies are low; as the development of technologies, all industries gradually have higher requirements on all kinds of electrical devices. The new requirements could be electrical devices could be used in tough environments like high humidity, in many corrosive intermediaries or radiations; the devices are also needed to be small, light has large containing volume, the efficiency should be large and the product life should be long. It also has excellent dielectric isolation property and the property could be stable in a large range of temperature and it could be used in both of high and low frequencies. At the same time, it has excellent properties like humidity resistance, waterproof, alkaline and acid resistance, radiation resistance, odor resistance and non-poisoned. Its electrical properties are better than other organic paints in both of low and high temperatures. Another feature is that when it is broken in high temperature, it will be not inflame and the rest is SiO2. Organic silicone could be compatible with heat resistance insulating materials like micas, glass wires and glass clothes to fulfill the increasing needs from spaceships, aircrafts, and electrical devices.

Silicone resin insulating material is usually organic silicone varnish paint; it means the silicone resin liquid which has not been filled with pigments, fillers or other components. It could also be magnetic paint which has high-temperature solidification type or low-temperature solidification type. It has two types- one is the pure silicone paint which is just to use polysiloxane as the bone structure; the other one is the modified silicone paint that combined to thermosetting organic silicone resins and the bone structures even contain some carbon chains. Even though pure silicone is hard to be decomposed, color changed or charred in high temperature. However, to compare with general organic resins, it has bad adhesion to base materials like metals, plastics and rubbers. To co-polymer or mix it with some organic resins could improve disadvantages above.
