In a recent announcement from Germany, WACKER has received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), an independent organization, for its 2045 carbon neutrality target. This achievement places WACKER among the first 15 chemical companies worldwide to pass the review for carbon neutrality goals by 2045, aligning with the 1.5-degree Celsius temperature limit set by the Paris Climate Agreement.

Dr. Christian Hartel, President and CEO of WACKER, expressed his satisfaction by stating, "With our climate protection objectives, WACKER has become a true pioneer. This successful review confirms that we are serious and validates that our path is the right one - reaching net-zero carbon emissions in our production by 2045!"

Science-based targets guide companies in setting emissions reduction goals based on scientific evidence, indicating the necessary extent and pace of greenhouse gas reductions to contribute to climate change mitigation. WACKER's targets align with the objective of limiting global temperature rise within 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels, as outlined in the Paris Agreement.
