On May 16th, according to relevant personnel, Dow Chemical planned to close its propylene oxide (PO) plant in Freeport, Texas by the end of 2025.
The device is nearing its lifespan, and the decision to shut it down is part of Dow Chemical's efforts to optimize costs and supply conditions. The PO factory will continue to operate until the end of 2025, while the downstream polyether polyol factory will continue to operate after the closure of the PO factory. Currently, the PO factory in Freeport provides raw materials for the polyol factory.
